A SEASON OF SONG: AWAITING JOY! | Christmas Cantata | December 14, 2025

Friends, we are well into Advent now; this is the third of four weeks as we follow the thoughts and reflections of Magrey de Vega in his book “Awaiting the Already—An Advent Journey through the Gospels.” This third Sunday leads us into the gospel of Luke. Possibly our favorite Advent Gospel, Luke wrote with a song in his heart. Every major character in Luke’s narrative breaks into song at some point, sort of like a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. Those songs emerge from each character’s deep well of emotion and are accompanied by great joy and awe. Luke recognizes the power of songs as an emotional trigger and invites us to be “open to the arrival of our God, who brings harmony in the midst of dissonance.” Our choir brings this Christmas message to life!
