Over the last two Sundays, Peter Parker has helped us think about the gifts we have been given, the responsibility that comes with them, and the choices we make about who we want to become. But this Sunday, October 18, things get a little darker. In Spider-Man 3, Peter's greatest danger isn't simply another villain. It's something that begins to grow inside of him. Peter is hurt. He wears a mask of anger. And slowly, anger becomes bitterness, bitterness becomes resentment, and resentment begins changing him. And visually, his red mask changes into a black mask. And maybe that struggle isn't quite as fictional as we would like it to be. So we're asking: What have I been feeding that I need to let go? What are we holding onto that might slowly be changing us? And how can God's grace help us finally let it go?
